There is an appealing history to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the border from next door Thailand, in which casino gaming is against the law. Eight casinos are situated in a generally small location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent destination, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing capital acquired from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; although, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 1700, and even though visas are apparently needed to pass, there are means around this, as is real of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty slots and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are 150 one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slots and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel building that contains many conveniences on top of the gambling hall, which has ten thousand square feet of 130 slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
